7 Things You Need to Know about JMU Libraries this Fall

We’ve been working this Summer on a ton of updates to library spaces and services and we’re excited to share them with you! Here are the top 7 things you need to know about what’s new in the Libraries this fall:

Books Icon

Our new borrowing policies are just 4 you! We’ve lengthened how long you can keep books and other items you’ve checked out:

And now there are no late fines on most items!

Calendar Icon

You can schedule an appointment with a librarian. You can talk to any librarian, or you can work with the librarian who specializes in your major. The librarians are eager to work with students and faculty at any stage of the research process.

Lamp Icon

We’ve revamped the study spaces in Carrier and Rose for more comfort and room to study. Also, check out the updated service desk in Carrier!

Camera Icon

You'll find exciting new spaces & services for media production equipment, video editing software, virtual reality, and makerspaces with 3d printing. In Rose, these are on the 1st & 5th floors, and in Carrier, they're in the basement. DVDs are now available at the new service desk in Carrier (not in the basement).

Music Icon

You can now browse all music items in the Music Library. No appointment necessary - just drop in!

 Phone Icon

You can choose to receive text message notifications from Interlibrary Loan and Article Delivery. You’ll know when your articles and books are ready to be picked up even quicker than before!

Carrier Library Icon

Carrier’s historic entrance has been re-opened for use! The entrance had been locked since the early 1980s, when Carrier Library was expanded. All are invited to the Carrier Library Grand Re-Opening on September 23 at 10am, where we will celebrate the re-opening of these doors and the other updates we’ve made to Carrier’s spaces.

Welcome back to campus! We hope you have a great academic year.
