Collection of Joseph Funk Letters Now in Special Collections

SPECIAL COLLECTIONS is pleased to announce a very exciting acquisition – a collection of nine letters, 1832-1836, written by J. W. Hollis, a printer/publisher in Winchester, to Joseph Funk of Singers Glen music fame. Funk was a pioneer American composer and publisher. He established Joseph Funk & Sons in Singers Glen in 1847, the first Mennonite printing house in the United States. Special Collections is also home to several works by and about Joseph Funk. These newly acquired letters, which discuss various editorial changes to Funk's A Compilation of Genuine Church Music (later Harmonia Sacra) , will complement our current Joseph Funk holdings and grow our collections of local history. Stop by and see this collection yourself and take a look at the finding aid here .
