The Center for International Stabilization and Recovery Presents: Post-Conflict Recovery Week

For the entire month of March, the Center for International Stabilization and Recovery’s (CISR) Post-Conflict Recovery Week (PCRW) invites you to check out the current book display and display case in Rose Library. Please browse our displays to learn more about post-conflict recovery topics, including disability in arts; refugees and internally displaced persons including women, children, and families; and removing landmines. While the clay figures in the Rose display case may be fake, the stories are more than real.

For PCRW 2017, keynote speakers Adnan Al Aboudi and Mona Abdeljawad—Jordanian human and disability rights advocates—will speak about the situation of Syrian refugees with disabilities and international disability rights. Additionally, in coordination with Harrisonburg High School, a teen refugee panel will discuss the issues and topics important to them, especially in light of current events. JMU School of Art, Design and Art History students will also showcase a disability-themed art exhibition and live art performance, with locations on campus at Duke Hall and at The Gallery at Laughing Dog in downtown Harrisonburg.
