Envisioning Change: Activism in Art

Date: Tuesday, February 28, 2017
Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm
Location: Duke Hall

JMuse Café, JMU School of Art, Design and Art History, and the JMU Civic Engagement Task Force present Envisioning Change: Activism in Art.

This dynamic event, held in the Duke Hall Courtyard, will begin with a gallery talk with Professor Laura Katzman on the current Duke Hall Gallery exhibit, "Drawing on the Left: Ben Shahn and the Art of Human Rights." We will then host a catered reception with a series of short films on contemporary artists engaged in progressive social and political issues, followed by a participatory discussion on the connection between activism and art.

The discussion will be moderated by JMU faculty Lisa Tubach, Audrey Barnes, and Karin Tollefson-Hall, and Lisa Schirch, research professor, Eastern Mennonite University, Center for Justice and Peacebuilding.

* Free parking will be available in JMU's Mason Street Parking Garage. All are welcome! *
